BallotReady is a 100% nonpartisan voting guide powered by the most comprehensive government database.

Our Democracy Mission

We believe democracy is built on transparent information, and that all voters deserve to be informed. By aggregating democracy’s data from every level of government, BallotReady builds accessible, customizable tools to enable full civic participation for every citizen.

Our Story

In 2012, BallotReady’s CEO, Alex, filled in her vote for president confidently and felt good about her vote for senator, but as she got further down the ballot, each name meant less and less to her.

Two years later, she began building an admittedly ugly website to help herself avoid this problem for the midterms. But with every addition to the site, she realized that this shouldn’t be a privilege only she got to have. She called up her friend from college and former candidate for office, Aviva, and got to work.

That year, BallotReady became a partner with the University of Chicago Institute of Politics, and we got our first ever funding, a check for $400. In 2015, we covered the Kentucky Statewide Election. By 2016, we were up and running in nine states. In 2018, all fifty. As of 2022, here’s where we stand.

Activate and engage others with a BallotParty or become a SuperVoter.
