Right now it’s almost impossible to cast an informed vote on every race and referendum. As a result, too many voters guess, leave blanks, or on Election Day stay home altogether.
But elections matter - and not just for president. At BallotReady, we’re on a mission to make democracy work the way it should by informing voters on their entire ballot.
BallotReady aggregates content from candidates’ websites, social media, press, endorsers and board of elections for comprehensive, nonpartisan information about the candidates and referendums on your ballot. We link everything back to its original source so voters can verify any piece of information, and we make every effort to confirm details with the candidates themselves, giving them the opportunity to share even more information.
We started in 2015, making paper voter guides for the Chicago mayoral runoff. With initial support from the National Science Foundation, the Knight Foundation, and the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics, BallotReady has continued to grow. In 2018, we were live nationwide, covering 95,000 candidates, all the way downballot. As we prepare for 2020, BallotReady is continuing to work to improve the robustness and quality of our information to ensure that every voter votes informed on their ballot.
